BISON SIGN 6 IN THE EARLY PERIOD
Five in-state student-athletes and the son of former Bison great Mel
Williams,
all high school standouts, have signed letters of intent to play baseball
at
Lipscomb University next year, head coach Jeff Forehand announced
this week.
“I am extremely happy about the class that we've signed,"
Forehand said.
"We went into the recruiting season hoping to get some depth
in pitching
because of who we will potentially lose this year,
including one of our weekend pitchers.
So a hard focus was certainly made on recruiting guys that we felt
could come in and make an immediate impact on our pitching staff and
our team.
After that, we felt like we were able to get some outstanding position
players,
and in particular, three position players that should give us a lot
of depth.
All the guys are very versatile enough to play several different positions.
Finally, we thought that we needed some help in the middle of the
order,
and I think that we signed one of the premier hitters in the country."
The recruiting class assembled under Forehand and recruiting coordinator
Brian Ryman, includes three pitchers, two infielders, and one outfielder.
“This is a class that will help our program for many years to
come.
We can’t wait to get them on campus and let them show what they
can do.
These young men will have a big impact on and off the field.
As you look at this class, you can see that all of these guys have
a
great chance of showing up here and playing for us," Ryman added.
Lipscomb’s commitments include:

Davey Hackett (Brentwood, TN/ Brentwood H.S.),
Martin Grude (Franklin,TN / Franklin H.S.),
