The Lipscomb Bisons lost both ends of a doubleheader Saturday to Belmont in the first Atlantic Sun series of the season.

The Bisons lost the nightcap 12-10 after losing 8-3 in game one at Shelby Park. The Bisons finished the series 1-2. They are 6-13overall. Belmont is 13-7 overall, 2-4 in the A-Sun.

The second game was a slugfest with the Bisons collecting 12 hits and Belmont getting 14.

The Bisons jumped out to a 6-1 lead with two runs in the first and four in the second. Belmont scored one run in the first and tied the game with five runs in the third.

In the fourth the Bisons took a 10-6 lead with four runs. Belmont answered with four in the fifth to tie the game at 10-10. They took the lead with one run in the sixth. In the eighth Belmont added one more run to seal the game.

Offensively, M.L. Williams led the way for the Bisons with three hits, including a triple. It was the most hits for Williams in a game this season and his fifth multi-hit game and first multi-RBI game of the season. Williams had a hit in game one to give him a team-leading 10-game hitting streak.

T.J. Hoelzer played his second game and once again posted multiple hits and multiple RBIs. He had two hits and two RBI. In those two games he has five hits and six RBI.

Right-hander Davey Hackett started for the Bisons. He pitched 4.2 innings. He gave up nine hits and 10 runs, but only four of the runs were earned. He walked four and struck out two.

Left-hander Alex Ross made his second appearance of the series. In 1.1 innings he gave up three hits and one run. He struck out two and did not walk a batter. He was credited with the loss.

Right-hander Mike Grace pitched one inning. He gave up one hit and struck out one. Right-hander Chad Fromm closed out the game. He allowed one hit and one run. He walked three and struck out two.

In game one the Bisons managed only five hits, all singles, in game one with Kyle Henry accounting for two of them.

Belmont scored one run in the first and another in the second. They added four in the fourth on a grand slam over the left field fence by Nate Woods who led with a total of five runs batted in.

The Bisons cut the lead to 6-3 in the sixth.

Belmont bounced back with two more runs in the sixth.

Right-hander Dannie Strable opened on the mound for the Bisons. He lasted 3.1 innings, giving up five hits and six runs, five earned. He walked five and did not strike out a batter.

Right-hander Josh Cotham threw 3.2 innings. He allowed five hits and two runs, both earned. He walked two and struck out one. Right-hander Matt Bowling pitched one inning. He did not give up a run or a hit.

The Bisons are back in action Tuesday when they make the short trip to Vanderbilt.
